# joy_convertaudio

## What it is for
`joy_convertaudio.py` is a drag-and-drop batch audio converter for turning source sounds into Kingpin-friendly WAV files.

It is especially useful when:
- converting an entire game's audio set for use in Kingpin
- normalizing many sound effects at once
- quickly preparing imported sounds for testing in-game

## Output format
Dropped files are converted to:
- **WAV**
- **22050 Hz**
- **16-bit**
- **mono**

These settings are a good fit for classic Quake II / Kingpin-era content workflows.

## How to use
1. Run the script.
2. Drag one or more audio files into the window.
3. Each file is converted and saved in the same folder as the original.

## Usage
```bat
python joy_convertaudio.py
```

## Dependencies
```bat
pip install PyQt5 pydub
```

You will also typically need **FFmpeg** available, because `pydub` uses it to read many audio formats.

## Supported input formats
The script relies on `pydub` / FFmpeg, so support depends on what FFmpeg can decode. In practice this usually includes formats like:
- `.wav`
- `.mp3`
- `.ogg`
- `.flac`
- and other common audio types

## Output naming
- Non-WAV inputs are saved as `name.wav`
- Existing WAV inputs are saved as `name_c.wav`

Example:
- `gunshot.mp3` → `gunshot.wav`
- `theme.wav` → `theme_c.wav`

## Notes
- This is a GUI-only tool; there are no command-line arguments.
- Converted files are saved beside the originals.
- For large asset imports, this is a fast way to bulk-convert audio without hand-editing each file.
